• 2012 Southwest Region Conference, June 7-9, 2012
    The main theme of the 2012 conference is Renewable & Alternative Forms of Energy. We will also explore related issues such as energy efficiency / thermal efficiency, and building green. A second portion of the conference will be dedicated to working in the Government Sector. A third portion of the program will focus on the Code, and other Health & Safety issues. Nearly all programs will be eligible for CEU’s.

    ...The lesson from these examples is that blindly collecting LEED points on projects can lead to significant problems if the issues associated with each point are not fully understood and accommodated in the overall building design. Designers and design-build contractors need to be aware of the bigger picture of sustainable design, and pursue LEED certification in a manner that does not end up leading to costly remediation efforts or litigation.
  • First Section of Ambitious Mountain View Corridor Opens to the Public
    The parallel, three-mile stretches of frontage road crossing what used to be farmland west of the Utah County city of Lehi might seem simple enough, but they are the key first portions of the Mountain View Corridor to open for public use. The project is an ambitious 35-mile freeway, transit and trail system connecting 13 municipalities along the western edge of the Salt Lake Valley.
